Did you know there’s a suspension bridge in Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province, just outside of Seoul?
Most people think you have to head deep into the countryside to find one—but this one’s right in the city!
In August 2022, Gwangmyeong City opened the Y-shaped Dodeoksan Suspension Bridge inside Dodeoksan Park, connecting the upper part of an artificial waterfall with the hiking trail.
The bridge stands 20 meters high and 1.5 meters wide, and it’s easy to reach. It is just a short walk up from the park’s entrance fountain. Stretching across the edge of Dodeoksan’s cliffs, it offers stunning scenery and has quickly become a popular photo spot.
At 183 meters above sea level, Mount Dodeok is right in the heart of the city, making it a convenient and beloved getaway for locals looking to take a relaxing walk or a quick weekend hike.
Cross the bridge and keep climbing a little further and you’ll reach the summit in no time!
Though it’s a modest mountain, the sense of accomplishment (and the view!) make it well worth it. The fall foliage here is especially beautiful. 🍁
So why not take a stroll across the suspension bridge, enjoy a light hike, and soak in a bit of nature without leaving the city?
