In Korea, there are representative theme parks such as 'Everland' and 'Lotte World'. It is so famous that many tourists visit it regardless of the season. However, compared to world-class theme parks like Disneyland in Japan, China and Hong Kong, in terms of scale and facilities, there are many things that can be improved.
Fortunately, there is some hopeful news recently.
With the idea of using the US military site, Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, we are actively working on the idea of creating a movie theme park.

Yeoncheon-gun, bordering the DMZ in northern Gyeonggi-do, was announced that it would create a world-class movie theme park.
The plan has revealed to create located in Yeoncheon-gun on a site of 300,000 pyeong in Jeongok-eup, a ski resort, hot spring water park, etc., including movie-themed attractions.
. In particular, it is possible to secure a stable site by using the USFK site.
This is a big advantage.
According to the explanation of Yeoncheon-gun, the planned development area is the area around the USFK donor area, selected for support under the Special Act. In addition, it is possible to accommodate the site, so it is possible to promote the business quickly.
It will be the first theme park to use eco-friendly renewable energy such as solar power.
It is said that the Green New Deal method that produces and utilizes this power is also introduced.

And the cold weather, which is considered the worst disadvantage of Yeoncheon-gun.
As you know, Yeoncheon-gun is one of the coldest regions in Korea.

This is because the terrain is surrounded by mountains.
Yet, we are also reviewing ways to use it as an advantage in creating a theme park.
Using eco-friendly energy through cryogenic technology in the theme park, you can experience temperatures as low as -50 degrees Celsius and wind speeds of over 148 km/h.
This is because we are planning to implement the Antarctic King Sejong Station.
Do you know Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, Japan? Since 2001, the first year of its opening, this place was in the surplus and saved Osaka City which was in stagnation. Disneyland in Orlando, USA, had nothing to offer other than orange production. Yet Disneyland made Orlando a world-class city. More than 20 million tourists visit Disneyland in Orlando each year. In November 2007, the Korean version of Universal Studios was opened in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do. It was planned to be completed by 2012. At that time, Gyeonggi-do had an annual production effect of 3 trillion won and an employment effect of 58,000 people. It is expected to increase tax revenue by 190 billion won.
The Universal Studios consortium in Gyeonggi-do, Hwaseong-si even signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
However, the original plan went awry when Universal Studios canceled participation due to copyright issues. Currently, the large company, Shinsegae, is re-promoting the business by changing it to a complex theme park including shopping malls.
In addition, since 2003, Paramount has been trying create movie theme parks with local governments in Jeju Island, Incheon Songdo, Daejeon, Gyeonggi Province Ansan, etc, yet they all failed.
Since 2000, 10 local governments have tried, but none have been successful.
Why did the plans to build world-class theme parks fail every time?
Mostly because of land acquisition.
As the cost of building a theme park is high for basic facilities such as construction costs, it is difficult to make a profit if a large amount of money is invested in securing the site.
Of course, even if the site is secured, there are many problems to overcome, such as attracting investment and obtaining business licenses.
Since the government has set 2021 as the first year of innovation in the service industry, the global theme park development project is supported actively.
The reason behind is that unlike competitive manufacturing industries such as semiconductors, the reality is that the basis for the service industry is weak. The government is also poised to see and support world-class theme parks as cutting-edge service businesses.
We look forward to creating a world-class theme park in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do. Thank you for your support.
