A grand traditional Korean garden harmoniously blends with an elegant exhibition space, creating a place where the beauty and sophistication of the past come alive!

Today, we’ll introduce Hoam Museum of Art, located in Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province. 

Founded to share over 1,200 art pieces collected over 30 years by Hoam Lee Byung-chul, the founder of Samsung Group, this museum is a premier destination where visitors can experience the depth and elegance of art all in one place.

Hoam Museum of Art is divided into two main spaces: the exhibition halls and the traditional Korean garden, Heewon.

Inside the exhibition halls, you can explore not only traditional artworks but also temporary and special exhibitions featuring masterpieces by modern artists.

Currently, a retrospective exhibition of modern artist Louise Bourgeois (Aug 30, 2025 – Jan 4, 2026) is being held in Exhibition Halls 1 and 2.

This is the artist’s first solo exhibition in Korea in 25 years, showcasing over 110 works spanning her entire career.

The exhibition offers a profound insight into Bourgeois’ psychological and symbolic world.

After enjoying the main exhibitions, make sure to visit the permanent exhibition.

In the tranquil traditional garden, Heewon, you can experience the installation works of the globally renowned artist Lee Ufan (이우환 작가). 

In particular, the work Silentium (Mooksiam) takes its name from the Latin word Silentium (silence) and conveys the meaning of ‘viewing in tranquility’ in Korean.

Three indoor pieces and one outdoor installation are connected as a single project, allowing visitors to experience both the artworks and the surrounding space in quiet contemplation.

Finally, take some time to relax and enjoy the serenity of nature after your visit. 

The traditional garden Heewon, located next to the museum, offers beauty in all four seasons.

With over 1,650 m² of grassy lawn, a pond, a pavilion, and charming hanok-style buildings, it’s an ideal space for a peaceful walk and immersive healing with nature. 

Easily accessible from Seoul, the museum is also ideal for a day trip!
