Would you believe it if I told you there's a large cafe in Gyeonggi Province’s Yongin City where you can enjoy playing with sand indoors?
Cafe 8794, located in Yongin City, is a perfect place to enjoy a cool summer vacation. It offers a unique combination of South Korea's first large indoor sand sculpture exhibition, a children's sand play area, and a place for parents to comfortably watch their kids play while sipping coffee.
This cafe is a space that combines three elements: a sand museum, a cafe, and a kids' cafe. What makes it special is that it features world-renowned figures – both real and mythical – like King Sejong, President Lincoln, and the Greek sea god Poseidon, all watching over the coffee-drinking guests.
The name "8794" of this cafe was derived from a couple who born in the years 1987 and 1994. The main branch is in Paju City, Gyeonggi Province, while the larger subsidiary branch is in Yongin City. The original intention behind this "World Landmark Cafe" was to turn a place that no one could visit due to the COVID-19 virus into the best sand destination in South Korea by creating an indoor sand world. The sand sculpture production process took five months and resulted in high-level art pieces created through the interaction of sand, water, and machinery.
The cafe is divided into three sections. In the 1st section, you can order pastries and beverages, and there's also a women's restroom. The 2nd section has a pathway leading to the 3rd section's sand playground and stairs leading up to the tables in the 3rd section. The men's restroom is located inside the 3rd section.
The 3rd section has a duplex structure with a sand playground on the lower level and tables and chairs on the upper level, making it ideal for playing with kids. This space is themed around European streets and world landmark sand sculptures, and it also operates as a high-end furniture store, a cafe, and an art gallery. Integrating these diverse elements, it's a large bakery cafe suitable for indoor dates and family gatherings.
Cafe 8794 in Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, is an ideal place to enjoy a fun date, so be sure to visit!
