Recently, the region has been experiencing intense heatwaves, posing risks to our health and daily life. Knowing how to protect yourself from extreme heat isn’t just helpful, it’s essential.
Let’s take a look at practical tips to help you stay safe, cool, and healthy this summer.
Understanding Korea’s Heatwave Alerts
In Korea, heatwave warnings aren’t based solely on temperature.
They consider the “perceived temperature”: a combination of air temperature, humidity, and wind.
Heatwave Advisory: Issued when the perceived temperature is expected to be 33°C (91.4°F) or higher for at least two consecutive days.
Heatwave Warning: Issued when the perceived temperature is expected to be 35°C (95°F) or higher for at least two consecutive days.
