To safeguard the rights of foreign residents in Gyeonggi Province and support victims, the Gyeonggi Women & Family Foundation and the Gyeonggi Institute of Research and Policy Development for Migrants' Human Rights have signed an agreement.
This partnership, established on April 18. 2024, focuses on preventing gender-based violence and assisting victims.
Here are the details of the new agreement:
Kim Hye-sun, CEO of the Gyeonggi Women & Family Foundation, and Oh Kyung-seok, Director of the Gyeonggi Foreign Residents Human Rights Support Center, pledged to collaborate in preventing gender-based violence and providing support for foreign victims.
Their commitment includes actively supporting related initiatives, offering education on preventing gender-based violence, and enhancing multilingual promotional activities through the Gyeonggi Gender-Based Violence Integrated Response Center.
Starting in May, they will recruit 50 interpreters; any foreign resident fluent in Korean and living in Gyeonggi Province is welcome to apply.
Kim Hye-sun said, "Through this agreement, we will create an environment where foreign residents are protected from gender-based violence and can receive the necessary support… By offering multilingual interpretation services, we aim to remove the language barrier that foreign victims of gender-based violence often face and improve accessibility."
The Gyeonggi Province Gender-Based Violence Integrated Response Center operates 24/7, 365 days a year, providing support to victims whenever needed. They also offer chat counseling via KakaoTalk (ID: 031cut).
If you experience gender-based violence while living in Gyeonggi Province, don't hesitate to seek help!
We hope to see Gyeonggi Province actively ensuring human rights for all, including foreign residents!
