Gyeonggi Province held a regional festival examination this past February 21-22, and selected 23 festivals after evaluating the hosting plans, which included such aspects as local economic revitalization, local resident participation, sustainability and safety management. After the evaluation, 23 festivals were selected as excellent local festivals this year.

List of 23 outstanding festivals hosted in Gyeonggi Province, Korea.
Among the 23 festivals, the Siheung Wolgot Port Festival, led by the festival promotion committee, will take place in October. The festival reflects the regional characteristics of Wolgot Port, where the sea and the city harmonize. There are fun programs such as boarding a fishing boat, fishing with bare hands, catching king prawns, and making salted seafood.
The Icheon Ceramic Festival provides themed exhibitions and on-site experiential programs centered on ceramic artists from 7 villages representing Icheon ceramics from September to October.
Choi Yong-hoon, Director of Gyeonggi Province’s Tourism Industry Division, said, "Local festivals have lagged due to COVID-19 over the past few years. We will support festivals by paying attention to local economic revitalization and safety management. We hope that local festivals can thrive again.”
