What is the digital Gyeonggi Project and how does it benefit the residents?
Gyeonggi Province (Gyeonggi-do) recently announced the Digital Gyeonggi Project for the 4th Industrial Revolution. Here are a few examples of how Gyeonggi’s digital policies benefit provincial residents.
● Gyeonggi Notification App Service: This is an app that delivers customized welfare information and notifications to Gyeonggi residents. Through this service, users can check a range of information on personal benefits and welfare in one place.
● Gyeonggi Sharing Service: Since January this year, Gyeonggi residents can search, reserve, and make payments for 619 shared public facilities, including conference rooms, sports facilities, and event halls.
● Tagless Payment System: With this service, bus fares can be paid without tapping transportation cards, and users can activate the drop-off bell online. It is currently in the pilot stage.
● Mobile Notice for Civil Defense Education and Training: Since March this year, notices for civil defense education and training has been sent via mobile message to Gyeonggi residents. The plan is to expand this service to all 31 cities and counties of the province by the second half of the year.
● GSEEK Live Virtual Learning: A lifelong learning portal with 1.3 million users, GSEEK aims to bridge gaps in educational opportunities through virtual learning.
● Gyeonggi Civil Service 24: The Gyeonggi Civil Service 24 system minimizes civil service paperwork. In addition to a loan interest support project, the provincial government also plans to expand services for credential documentation.
● Data Dividend: Data dividends (approximately KRW 120 per card) have been implemented to return proceeds generated through local currency data transactions.
● Data Sovereignty International Forum: In September this year, Gyeonggi-do held a forum on the economic and social value of personal data and human rights in terms of data. The keynote speech was delivered by World Wide Web inventor Tim Burners-Lee
