The name of the platform, Cheum, is derived from the Korean verb meaning ‘to fill.’ The name was selected through a public contest focused on adolescents, and the winner suggested the name Cheum because the platform is filled with knowledge and resources every adolescent needs.
The platform brings together information about different service types available to the local adolescents, encompassing family-related issues, school bullying and violence, depression and suicide, online sexual harassment, and mental health resources, and also offers information needed to access police, legal agencies, or welfare facilities.
The online platform is organized so that the adolescents can find information in the following ways:
1. They can search the platform using keywords.
2. They can navigate categories based on service type.
3. Customized support searches allow users to find services available to them based on gender, address, family type, and so on.
4. Neighborhood youth safety functions allow users to browse available services and centers using a map.
The Cheum platform has taken into consideration web accessibility and compatibility; the designers have been working hard to make UX and UI convenient for use on various digital devices, including smartphones and tablets, which tend to be more convenient for adolescents. Overall, the project focuses on making comprehensive information available to everyone so that no one is left behind.
