A new cultural landmark has opened in Gyeonggi Province: the Gyeonggi Library, a special space that connects books, culture, and people.
How about taking a break from city noise for a day and immersing yourself in the comforting scent of books?
The library’s building features a spiral, three-dimensional design, breaking down spatial boundaries and offering visitors a sense of freedom as they move through the space. All around, you’ll find compact bookshelves blended with cozy rest areas, creating an environment where visitors can linger naturally and enjoy moments of reflection.
More than just a place to read, the Gyeonggi Library serves as a platform for knowledge, learning, and sharing — a vibrant cultural space that embraces the major themes of our time: climate and environment, artificial intelligence, and people-centered values. It aims to be a future-oriented library where books, people, technology, and nature coexist in harmony.
This open, inclusive space invites everyone to read, learn, and communicate freely. For visitors from Korea and abroad, it offers a unique opportunity to experience Korea’s modern reading culture.
The Gyeonggi Library is an eco-friendly building with five floors above ground and four underground levels. It minimizes carbon emissions through geothermal and solar energy systems and operates as a sustainable, zero-waste facility with no disposable products.
More than a reading space, the library is a creative and cultural hub where learning, experimentation, and collaboration thrive. It houses innovative spaces such as an AI Creation Studio, a Climate and Environment Archive, and a Support Zone for Young Artists, fostering continuous inspiration and creativity.
One of its highlights is the ‘World Friends Book Village’ on the second floor, offering books in 22 different languages — a reflection of Gyeonggi Province’s diverse, multicultural community that includes many international residents and families.
In addition, visitors can enjoy a wide variety of content such as local bookstore collections, e-books, and magazines, making it a space for all generations to share and connect.
Whether you’re a book lover or someone in search of fresh ideas and inspiration, don’t miss the newly opened Gyeonggi Library, launched in October 2025.
