On October 30, 2025, Korea’s Ministry of the Interior and Safety released an analysis based on data from the Ministry of Data and Statistics, using the 2024 Population and Housing Census.
According to the statistics, as of November 1, 2024, there were 2.58 million foreign residents who had stayed in Korea for more than three months.
Since the first official count in 2006, the number of foreign residents has steadily increased, reaching an all-time high this year and accounting for about 5% of the country’s total population.
Notably, about one in three foreign residents live in Gyeonggi Province, making the province one of the most foreigner-friendly regions in Korea. 🤗
Among cities in Gyeonggi Province, Ansan City has the largest foreign resident population. Here, you’ll find the Ansan Multicultural Food Street, a hub of daily life for migrants and a place where global cultures come together!
Located within the Multicultural Tourism Zone in front of Ansan Station, the area features migrants from more than 10 countries showcasing their traditional foods and cultures.
The street is lined with shops and signboards written in various languages, giving visitors the feeling of walking through an international city without leaving Korea.
A major draw is the opportunity to try unique dishes from Central Asia, Southeast Asia, China, and the Middle East— foods that are hard to find elsewhere in Korea.
As a designated Multicultural Village Special Zone, the area also hosts cultural exchange events for locals and foreign residents and offers various support programs and facilities for the foreign community.
Gyeonggi Province is a place where diverse cultures coexist with respect.
Plan a visit to Ansan City, where you can experience flavors and traditions from all over the world! 🌐
