The 2025 DMZ OPEN Festival will take place from Monday, August 11 to Wednesday, November 5, 2025, throughout the DMZ area in Gyeonggi Province!

This year’s festival embraces the concept of an “open, all-inclusive festival” that transcends division and boundaries, with four main themes: Harmony of Peace (Arts), Resonance of Knowledge (Academics), Movement Beyond Borders (Sports), and Unity Beyond Division. Visitors can look forward to a rich program of exhibitions, concerts, an international music festival, peace walks, marathons, and the Eco Peace Forum.

1. DMZ OPEN Exhibition: (UNDO DMZ)

Kicking off the festival, the DMZ OPEN Exhibition will run from August 11 to November 5 across venues such as Pyeonghwa Nuri Park, Gallery Greaves, and Tongilchon (Village).

The DMZ has long been restricted from civilian access, which has preserved its unique natural environment. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience that environment through an artistic lens.

2. DMZ OPEN Concert & International Music Festival

On September 6, the DMZ OPEN Concert will be held at the Paju’s Pyeonghwa Nuri Park Outdoor Stage.

Designed to transform the DMZ from a “closed space of division” into an “open space of inspiration and solidarity,” this concert will feature popular artists, creating unforgettable moments for the audience.

The DMZ OPEN International Music Festival will take place from September 26 to 30 at ARAM NURI ARTS CENTER, Aram Opera House. 

This festival invites audiences to reflect on the meaning of borders and broaden their sense of peace through music, building a shared narrative of harmony.

3. DMZ OPEN Peace Walk & Marathon

On Saturday, November 1, join the DMZ OPEN Peace Walk along the Imjingak River eco-trail near Pyeonghwa Nuri Park. 

This program highlights the ecological, historical, and peace value of the DMZ while allowing participants to walk courses of 6 km or 9.1 km.

Additional activities include small performances, unique photo zones, and hands-on experiences.

• No age restrictions / Entry fee: KRW 12,000

On Sunday, November 2, the DMZ OPEN Peace Marathon will be held at the same location, with half marathon (21 km) and 10 km courses.

Participants can also enjoy obstacle challenges, eco-experience walks, and AR/QR stamp tours.

• Capacity: 3,500 participants (first come, first served)

• Entry fee: Half marathon KRW 35,000 / 10 km KRW 30,000

4. DMZ OPEN Eco Peace Forum

From November 3 to 5, the DMZ OPEN Eco Peace Forum will be held at Sono Calm Goyang. This international academic forum brings together leading scholars from Korea and abroad to discuss the future of ecology and peace.  

The forum serves as an open governance platform to share the value of the DMZ with the world and explore sustainable policies.
