Where history, nature, and lights come together ✨
Located in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, Hangjusanseong Fortress is a historic site best known for the Battle of Haengju during the Imjin War (1592-1598). Today, it’s a destination that shines with charm both day and night.
This earthen fortress is believed to date back to the Three Kingdoms period. Most famously, it was here that General Kwon Yul and his troops achieved a decisive victory, defending against an attack of 30,000 Japanese soldiers.
To honor that victory, a commemorative monument was later built at the top of Deogyang Mountain. Today, Hangjusanseong Fortress stands not only as a military structure but also as a proud reminder of Korea’s resilience and history.
During the day, you can enjoy refreshing views over the Han River and peaceful walking trails.
At night, the fortress lights and the glittering Seoul skyline create a romantic and unforgettable nightscape.
Being so close to Seoul, it’s easy to reach. Making it a popular spot for dates as well as family outings 💖
Through October, the fortress holds special night openings on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, when you can stay until 10 p.m. (last entry at 9 p.m.).
On a cool autumn evening, take a stroll along the fortress walls, soak in the illuminated scenery. 📸
