When city life feels overwhelming and you need a breath of fresh air, head to the Korea National Arboretum in Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province.
Here, the vast forest and air rich with phytoncides refresh both body and mind, offering a true gift of happiness. 🍃
The arboretum lies within a grand forest embraced by several mountains. As Korea’s largest arboretum, it is home to more than 10 themed gardens and over 6,000 species of plants. You’ll also find more than 20 species of flora and fauna designated as Natural Monuments, adding immeasurable ecological value. 🌱
Inside the arboretum, there’s also a café and a Forest Museum, making it a great destination for families, friends, and couples alike.
The Forest Museum is especially fascinating, with five exhibition halls that cover diverse themes:
from the history of trees and forests, to the traditional uses of wood in daily life, to the ways forests have been preserved and managed over time.
Rich collections of artifacts and displays make this experience more than just a walk in the woods—it’s a deep dive into the story of forests.
Since the Korea National Arboretum is located in the protected Gwangneung Forest area, there are no snack bars or convenience stores inside. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own lunch or light snacks, which can be enjoyed only in designated areas. This way, you can savor your meal while helping preserve the natural environment.
Walking along the lush trails, breathing in the scent of the trees, and reconnecting with nature restores the sense of peace we often forget in daily life. 🌳✨
How about treating yourself to a moment of true healing at Korea National Arboretum this weekend?
