In response to the recent cases of housing lease fraud in Korea, Gyeonggi Province has become the first local autonomy in the nation to offer one-time emergency living expense support of KRW 1 million per affected household
Applications have been accepted since March 18, 2024, with a plan to support a total of 3,000 households by the end of the year.
[Emergency Living Expense Eligibility]
This support is available for households in Gyeonggi Province that have been officially recognized as victims of ‘jeonse’ lease fraud, either under the related special law or through receipt of a lease fraud confirmation document from the Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG).
Both Koreans and Foreigners Are Eligible
However, those who are receiving emergency welfare support or emergency housing relocation assistance due to lease fraud are ineligible for this emergency living expense support.
Eligibility for this support is determined by the location of the affected property; therefore, individuals who experienced lease fraud in Gyeonggi Province but currently reside outside of the province are not eligible for support. It is important to carefully check the eligibility details.
[How to Apply]
Applications for support can be submitted in person at the Jeonse Damage Support Center (전세피해지원센터) of the respective city or county, via registered mail, or online through Gyeonggi Minwon 24 (경기민원24).
Support funds are expected to be disbursed approximately 20 days after receipt of the application, following the completion of several verification processes.
Gyeonggi Province will continue its effort to improve living conditions for all residents, including both Koreans and non-Koreans.
Your continued interest in and support for these initiatives is greatly appreciated.
