As winter slowly fades and clothing becomes lighter, we often begin to feel that spring has arrived. Among the surest signs of spring, people often seek beautiful cherry blossoms!
By late March to early April, crowds gather at cherry blossom spots across Korea to see the blossoms in full bloom.
Today, we would like to introduce a hidden gem not far from Seoul City, where cherry blossoms bloom in abundance.
It is the Gyeyangcheon (계양천) Stream Cherry Blossom Path in Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeyangcheon is a river that flows through the cities of Incheon and Gimpo, eventually connecting to the Han River. The cherry blossom path, particularly around the Saugyo and Pungnyeon bridges, spans approximately 2.2 kilometers.
Take a stroll from Saugyo Bridge (사우교) towards the Geolpo Intersection (걸포사거리) along the Gyeyangcheon walking trail. Cherry trees line both sides of the path, and you'll encounter endless cherry blossom tunnels facing each other :)
This place attracts many visitors every year for cherry blossom photography!
As of 2024, renovations have created pedestrian decks, bicycle lanes, safety fences, stepping stones and more, making it much more pleasant and safe for strolling.
