Gyeonggi Province is the first in the country to operate rest bus for disaster site volunteers!

In response to the insufficient rest space for volunteers at disaster sites such as infectious diseases and recovery from flooding in 2021, SK Hynix donated KRW 400 million to the Community of Korea. Ultimately, it was decided to donate rest bus to Gyeonggi Province. While rest bus for firefighters at disaster sites were already in operation, the introduction of rest area bus for volunteers is a first for Gyeonggi Province nationwide.

These rest buss, where volunteers can take a safe rest, will travel throughout various disaster sites in Gyeonggi Province for 10 years until August 2033. 😉

The newly produced rest bus are equipped with various functions incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for the safety and rest of users. The comprehensive situation room in the vehicle includes a video conferencing space for direct communication with the disaster situation room. It is also linked with a smart safety system to monitor the health status of the volunteers. Volunteers wear smart bands on their wrists during activities, which can measure their heart rate, body temperature, and whether they have fallen in real-time. If any health issues arise, they can immediately move to the rest area bus for necessary measures.

The rest bus for volunteers are planned to be deployed in various volunteer sites.

Apart from operating as a shelter for disaster victims and volunteers during emergencies, they will also be utilized as mobile rest areas for residents during normal times, such as supporting rural labor, aiding vulnerable groups, and providing customized services for residents during cold and harsh weather.
