How about enjoying the autumn atmosphere in a beautiful forest setting? This autumn, the rich programs of Namhansanseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are waiting for you.
Namhansanseong, known as the "Forest Citadel," is a fortress from the Joseon Dynasty. It served as a temporary capital, providing refuge for the royal family and people in times of emergency. Recognized for its outstanding natural and historical value, Namhansanseong was the 11th UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site designated in South Korea.
From August 19 to November 5, Namhansanseong offers the "2023 World Cultural Heritage Namhansanseong Historical and Cultural Attractions" program on weekends and holidays. These programs include history, culture, and experiences.
At Namhansanseong, you can experience the culture of the Joseon Dynasty through "Namhansanseong Cultural Experience," which includes wearing Joseon-era clothing and touring the palace. You can also participate in activities like "Everyone's Joseon Painting" and "Dadam," through which you can try various traditional crafts.
Through the "Namhansanseong Eco-School," you can stroll through the autumn forest with forest interpretation experts and learn about the history of Namhansanseong. There are also hands-on programs such as making pinecone bracelets and leaf bouquets.
Furthermore, at the "Namhansanseong Yeonhui Hanmadang," you can enjoy traditional martial arts performances, rural music shows, hanbok fashion shows, busking, and more.
Moreover, during the nighttime opening of the palace, you can enjoy the night view of Namhansanseong and create memories of autumn via line lighting, shadow photo zones, and more. Please note that program operating hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM, and some programs may be canceled in case of rain.
Most of the programs at Namhansanseong are free to experience, with the exception of the "Dadam" experience program, which costs KRW 1,000 per person.
