Every year, May 20 in Korea is Together Day.
Together Day is a nationally celebrated day in Korea established with the intention of creating a multicultural society where people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds understand and coexist with each other. It is celebrated annually on May 20.
According to the OECD's classification, a country is considered multicultural if the percentage of foreigners in its population is more than 5%. As of 2022, according to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the proportion of foreigners in South Korea is 4.3%, and it is expected to become an internationally recognized multicultural and multiethnic country very soon.
South Korea continues its efforts to respect the values and diversity of a multicultural society, foster understanding and coexistence among its people, and create a culture of mutual respect. Together Day is a special day in Korea to honor these ongoing efforts.
Gyeonggi Province is the region in South Korea with the highest number of foreign residents. In response to this, Gyeonggi Province is actively making various efforts and policy support for foreign residents in many aspects.
