To celebrate the upcoming ‘Together Day,’ which falls on May 20, Gyeonggi Province is hosting the 14th Gyeonggi Province Multicultural Family Speech Contest. This contest is designed to create happy families and foster global talent through understanding and communication among members of multicultural families. With the ebb of COVID-19, the Multicultural Family Speech Contest is finally being held offline for the first time in 4 years! Check out the information below and apply!
The 14th Gyeonggi Province Multicultural Family Speech Contest (2023)
○ Recruitment Period: March 6 – 24, 2023
○ Date and Location: May 19, 2023 / Gyeonggi Provincial Government Grand Hall (1st floor)
○ Who can apply: Children of multicultural families or marriage immigrants in Gyeonggi Province
■ Recruitment
1. Bilingual Speakers
- Children of multicultural families in Gyeonggi Province
- 90 seconds in Korean / 90 seconds in foreign language (excluding mother tongue and English)
2. Korean Speakers
- Marriage immigrants in Gyeonggi Province
- Within 150 seconds
The competition will feature a bilingual speaker category and a Korean speaker category.
Bilingual Speakers
In the bilingual speaker category, students in elementary, middle, and high schools of the province, as well as children under the age of 18 from multicultural families, present in Korean and a foreign language (excluding English and mother tongues) for 90 seconds each.
Korean Speakers
In the Korean speaker category, married immigrants in Gyeonggi Province who came to the Korea after January 1, 2017, compete by making a presentation in Korean within 150 seconds.
Applicants can freely select a topic and submit a speaking presentation video along with a presentation script and application documents in person, by e-mail, or by mail. Guidelines for contest preliminaries and finals
During the application period, 20 finalists will be selected through preliminary screening based on videos and scripts submitted by applicants. The list of finalists will be announced via the website of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government in the second half of April, and the Governor's Award will be presented to all finalists. The finals will be held on May 19, 2023, along with a variety of things to enjoy, such as a celebratory performance.
