Gyeonggi Province and Gyeonggi
Tourism Organization Begin MICE Industry Revitalization
Have you heard of the MICE industry? MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) refers to the industry that encompasses facilities such as large conference centers and exhibition centers that host various exhibitions, international conferences, and more. Expos, conferences, and other such events fall under this category that covers venues where meetings and events for all industries – including IT, transportation, tourism, and trade – can be held.
The MICE industry, which had been struggling due to COVID-19 pandemic,
has regained some traction. As a result, Gyeonggi Province is concentrating particularly
on the tourism industry so as to increase its international competitiveness.
For international conferences being held this year, Gyeonggi Province has
announced that it will grant additional benefits and subsidies. The provincial
government is also planning to showcase its cities and major industries in a
single location.
In addition, at the “MICE Ontact Day’ hosted by Gyeonggi Province and the
Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, it was announced that there will be more active
support policies for the MICE industry. Concurrently, the MICE industry plan
for Gyeonggi Province was broadcast live on YouTube.
