Future Show 2021 took place in Siheung to showcase the newest technology representing the 4th Industrial Revolution.
From October 7 to 10, Gyeonggi-do hosted the second Future Show to showcase a variety of innovative technologies at Avenue France in Siheung City.
Taking place under the theme of ‘Meet the Future’, the event was held in compliance with COVID-19 safety guidelines via a walk-through format with the implementation of an on-site reservation system to ensure visitor safety.
This year, the event featured 15 companies at numerous stalls that exhibited some of the newest technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution – such as interactive virtual reality and artificial intelligence programs, and robotics – and culminating in the highlight of the entire event : a stunning drone light show.
One of the stalls, titled of ‘Metaverse VR,’ offered an interactive experience of walking in virtual digital spaces, providing users with the freedom of choosing between various venues, including a virtual art gallery and a movie theater. The goal was to demonstrate ways in which VR technologies can be used in daily future life.
Some of the popular programs included writing a letter to one’s future self and the Augmented Reality Photo. Using a kiosk, visitors could capture and print out their own life photos that would move once viewed through the lens of a phone camera!
Another program that was of particular interest to younger visitors was the Metaverse AI Live Concert, which offered the unique experience of music performance in a game format along with a digital musician controlled by AI.
One of the main goals of the event was also to digitize and promote local commercial districts in an era of digital transformation. A representative example of this was a system that enabled users to change the style and color of their hair via augmented reality mirror. This innovation is quite likely to see widespread use in the beauty industry of the future.
There were also programs available exclusively at night, such as Digital Signage, which projected various moving images on a clock tower in the middle of the square, creating a visual illusion of flowers blooming right on the tower.
Something that visitors didn’t want to miss was the Drone Light Show, which featured 300 glowing drones flying in the air and forming incredible figures in the night sky. The ideal place for viewing this show was at the park across the street from the event venue, which also had an observation deck overlooking a magnificent ocean view.
