The Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza is a hub cultivating the upcycling industry of Gyeonggi Province (Gyeonggi-do). Its mission is to support the upcycling industry, promote DB materials, strengthen connections between industry and academia, and promote human resource development while expanding upcycling culture and foundations. Through the Upcycle Soaring Project, the Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza provides support for startups via funds for commercialization along with startup space at its facilities. The Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza strives to foster startups as the driving force propelling the upcycling industry.Concurrently, the Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza also identifies promising concepts for the upcycling industry in Gyeonggi-do by organizing the Gyeonggi Upcycling Contest. This is another opportunity cultivated by the plaza to support fledgling businesses through competition in the Gyeonggi Upcycling Festival.

The Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza is also committed to human resource development in upcycling. For example, the plaza offers educational in concepts associated with and the importance of upcycling, thereby helping workers in the industry thrive.
Another aspect that the Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza focuses on is the expansion of the cultural base for upcycling. Through events such as the Gyeonggi Upcycling Festival, upcyclers are given opportunities to actualize their innovative design activities. The event offers an environment-friendly consumer experience and gives festival participants a chance to produce and sell various products. Additionally, at the Gyeonggi Upcycling Flea Market, visitors can make their own items and purchase various others at reasonable prices. Last but not least, the Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza raises public awareness of upcycling through the Gyeonggi Upcycling Seminar. At the seminar, upcycling-related business leaders are available to discuss recent issues and plans to improve the upcycling industry in Gyeonggi-do.
Program
The Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza offers two categories of educational programs. The regular programs are in the form of one-time education workshops using fabric, wood, and plastic materials. Special upcycling education, on the other hand, provides mid-to-long term courses using equipment such as 3D printers, targeting college students.Facilities
There are 11 tenant companies, including Makerhouse, Sunsco, and Unicast, with 16 categories of equipment available, including 3D printers, table saws, sewing machines and more are.Industry
Quality upcycled products are made with valuable materials. The library of the Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza identifies discarded resources that can be upcycled from business sites in Gyeonggi-do and provides information on how these materials can be obtained. The Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza has created an online database of upcycled materials and products with over 1,000 items, 380 of which are on display in the Material Exhibition Room at Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza.Upcycling refers to the process of adding design and applicability to discarded products, thereby turning them into value-added products. Because upcycled products use discarded products as materials, it is a challenge to secure a stable supply of such materials while maintaining high quality. For this reason, the Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza provides detailed information on materials to upcyclers nationwide through its database.
Through these and other efforts, the Gyeonggi Upcycle Plaza connects suppliers with upcyclers, providing resources for delivery and cleaning/processing services with the aim of establishing a virtuous cycle of discarded resource circulation.
