Gyeonggi Province announced that it has successfully hosted Korea’s top marine leisure industry exhibition, the 2022 Korea International Boat Show, which attracted 55,000 visitors during its three-day run.

The show ran from March 11 to 13 at KINTEX in Goyang City and ARA Marina in Gimpo City. It was held alongside the Korea International Fishing Show for the first time, and drew favorable responses from fishing enthusiasts with its diverse displays of fishing boats.

(The exhibition invited the participation of comprehensive marine leisure companies in areas including boats and yachts, water sports and unpowered boats, and marine supplies and safety products. It took the form of a hybrid exhibition as 152 participating companies occupied 1,020 booths in the exhibition hall while also posting 600 items for the concurrent online exhibition.)

This year’s show was particularly noteworthy in that it attracted potential users with its user-oriented exhibition

Approximately 50 domestic and foreign businesses participated in online export consultations for market expansion. A USD 32 million megadeal between South Gyeongsang Province’s Sacheon City-based marine engine manufacturer Daedong Marine Tech and Iran was also sealed, with Daedong expected to export 20 electric generators worth around USD 1 million each.

Product of the Year Awards for 2022 were presented to lifesaving equipment manufacturer Arion Communication and four other companies. Gyeonggi Province’s Hwaseong City-based boat producer Star Marine was selected for the grand prize and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Award, adding further achievements to the sale of 10 fishing boats.

We look forward to seeing the day when, with marine leisure and marine tourism as leading industries

Over 3,500 visitors dropped by to see the “Gyeonggi Ocean, Marine Tourism Exhibition,” which was boldy arranged to promote a vision that the marine leisure industry can also be expanded to the tourism industry. Over 100 inquiries regarding Saewoon Travel’s marine tour packages demonstrate the soaring interest in Korean marine tourism.

This year’s show was particularly noteworthy in that it attracted potential users with its user-oriented exhibition.

Show organizers invited representatives of “Leisure Boat Maniac” and “Club the Marine” – the country’s largest boat clubs – as guest speakers and to display 12 privately owned boats. Moreover, a special conference jointly held with the Korea Shipbuilding Industry Cooperative as well as 32 open conferences on 6 topics encompassing boat users’ basic common sense and knowledge were held in three conference halls.
