Q. Why do you need basic income?
Basic income is everyone’s right. Social polarization between income and wealth is so extreme and also, most of middle-class people need a certain income.

Q. What are the characteristics of basic income policy in Gyeonggi-do?
It's the third largest basic income policy in the world.
It's a big feature of being paid to young people who are old enough to get a job.
Another is the world's first basic income paid in the form of local currency.
The local currency is designed to be used small business within the region primarily.

Q. Why is Gyeonggi-do targeting basic income as young people?
Young people in our country are in the welfare dead zone. And they are spending a lot of time to get qualified job. That's how youth basic income policy started. Paying them basic income to make young people have enough time to develop themselves, to get into society.

Q. What do you think is the positive effect of youth basic income?
First, I liked the fact that I don't have to work too hard right now and that I could focus more on my studies. Because I was supported by living expenses at home, I felt a sense of psychological stability because I didn't have to work too much.

Q. What do you think about youth basic income?
I haven't really been interested in politics, because I've had a lot of work to do. I realized that politics has a lot of influence on my life. So I became more interested in politics.

Q. What do you think about expanding the basic income of youth to the whole of the rural population rather than the youth?
I also think that's positive. I'm sure everyone has a hard time on their position. I think government can solve this problem to co-exist by helping them.

Q. Why do you associate youth basic income with local currency?
Because it is paid in local currency, it is not available in large retail stores, department stores, and entertainment stores, but only in traditional markets and alleyways stores.
There's a little bit of inconvenience, but this means that we're also working together to activate the local community.

Q. What is the future plan or direction of the basic income policy?
The basic income is often cited as a problem with funding. So how are we going to finance it?
Currently, Gyeonggi-do is proposing land possession tax. In Gyeonggi-do, if we can collect tax from real estate, and pay it back to the people, we can provide a basis for the people to experience the basic income first and then move on to the overall basic income.

Q. What is the basic income policy for Gyeonggi-do (purpose, necessity)?
Basic income guarantees a minimum income for a human life, so that people don't lose their self-esteem, and they pursue a way of living as human beings.

Basic income is the possibility of a fair world. Youth basic income for youth in Gyeonggi-do, it's not welfare, and it is investment for the future because youth is our future. The basic income of Gyeonggi-do is currently in process. Youth basic income is the first step.
We hold the Korea basic income fair every year.
